Why watch this film?

Das Forum - Rettet Davos die Welt? The Davos Economic Forum has over time become one of the world's biggest references for political and economic debates. After all, each year in this small Swiss town, the world's greatest leaders and presidents gather to discuss society, politics, economics, environment, among other things. In 'Das Forum', filmmaker Marcus Vetter (of 'The Promise') gains unprecedented access to the backstage of this global event. Thus, for almost two hours, the documentary allows the viewer to take a peek through the keyhole of the Economic Forum. It is possible, among other things, to see the actions taken by one of the Greenpeace executives, Trump's reaction to company presidents, Jair Bolsonaro's total lack of composure in negotiations and conversations, and, of course, the hostile atmosphere that was installed in Davos in the 2020 edition. All this, moreover, with frank and frequent interviews from the founder of the Forum, Klaus Martin Schwab. A direct and sincere dive into the backstage of international politics. A feast for those who like to understand how the world develops and makes politics.

Plot summary

Every year, leading figures from international politics, business and academia gather in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. For the forum’s 81-year-old founder Klaus Schwab, it’s all about improving the world through dialogue. But how are you going to challenge the status quo if you keep on inviting exclusively establishment figures? Marcus Vetter was the first filmmaker to be granted behind-the-scenes access.
