Inconvenient Indian

A powerful exploration of Indigenous resistance and colonialism's erasure of Native peoples' stories.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

Native peoples of North America were summarily decimated during the colonization period and their stories then erased. The ancestry of these peoples, as well as their rich cultures and customs, don't even occupy space in history books. They have become legends and transformed into entertainment pieces in western movies and the like. In the documentary 'Inconvenient Indian', filmmaker Michelle Latimer and writer Thomas King reflect on the figure of the indigenous person in the current world, seeking to provoke important reflections and even re-signify the figure of these peoples in culture -- as 'Revelation', from Netflix, did with the trans community. It is, in short, an important, urgent and necessary film, which knows how to break geographical boundaries and speak about ancestral cultures around the world.
