Why watch this film?
Don't get confused, this is not the remake of 'The Secret Garden' with Colin Firth and Julie Walters, this is another version, quite different from the original, released in 1993. This adaptation of the English novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a low-budget production, diverging from the grandiose Hollywood classics inspired films. Its greatest merit lies in the costume, well achieved in its eagerness to transfer the story to a steampunk fantasy context that, yes, has not been seen in any of the other film adaptations. However, beyond that, it does not justify this creative decision, so it is a version that adds practically nothing to the magic of the original novel, much less to the acclaimed classic of 1993.
