Why watch this film?
This movie has a really curious premise. A woman inexplicably can't see her mother and her family turns to a doctor to try and understand what is happening. Then, they discover that it's not just her mother she can't see and that there is a kind of selection created by her mind. An engaging narrative is developed from this idea. The whole cast is excellent, but Shannon Tarbet and Aidan Turner deserve extra mention for bringing a convincing psychological realism to something that walks the thin line between drama and fantastical realism - all built with great balance. Turner is devastatingly convincing in his character who was looking to disappear, but ends up changing his mind. 'Love is Blind' is an incredibly interesting and creative production.

The film follows a writer who returns to his hometown of Cognac after 35 years to represent a cognac brand and reunites with the son of his first love, a role played by Victor Belmondo, triggering an avalanche of passionate memories of his youth.
Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
