Why watch this film?
The new work of director Eric Baudelaire, born in Salt Lake City and raised in Paris, is an intriguing collaborative documentary. It focuses on a group of students living in the "Zone 93", a stereotypically negatively perceived neighborhood of the outskirts of Paris and one of the poorest regions of France. Cameras and basic instructions on how to use them were provided, leaving the equipment in the hands of these teenagers for 4 years. In addition, there are moments when the students were recorded by the team while they talked about various topics. Thus, we are presented with a work with a lot of freshness and spontaneity. Touching on themes such as friendship, emancipation to adult life and the process itself and the implications of making a documentary, it is also an invitation to listen to these young people, who have much to teach about the way the world comes.

But it would be a mistake to say it's just a female version of the first documentary. Through a select group of girls participating in a federal government simulation in Missouri, this film reveals, firstly, how American politics operates. But secondly, and more importantly, it explores how an environment supposedly empowering girls can both propel and limit them at the same time, raising questions about what we understand about power and the ways to exercise it.
Earth Protectors
Documentaries about the climate crisis are never too many, but sometimes it can be challenging to find one that presents its arguments in a different and memorable way. Earth Protectors is a worthy attempt. Directed by French artist and environmental activist Anne de Carbuccia, it artistically documents her 10-year journey around the world exploring the impact of climate change in various countries, as well as the solutions undertaken to empower global citizens and address the crisis. At times, de Carbuccia and her works take more prominence than necessary, but she manages to present vital information.
