Casper became one of the biggest pop culture sensations of the late 20th century, stealing the scene in comics, cartoons, and, of course, movies. 'Casper' is just one of those films that try to adapt cartoons with live-action actors and ends up presenting a strange result -- like 'The Flintstones' and 'Scooby-Doo'. However, it's undeniable that there is some humor in the story, as well as good work from the protagonists Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci. To travel through nostalgia and thus watch time pass with the friendly ghost.

Will Ferrell is one of the biggest names when it comes to silly comedies. In his filmography, there are titles like 'Eurovision', 'Semi-Pro', 'Blades of Glory' and the like. 'Land of the Lost', which is an adaptation of a classic 1970s series, mixes Ferrell's exaggerated humor with a more childlike and family-friendly tone. To that end, viewers are invited to embark on a fun and enjoyable fantasy plot about a world where the impossible can happen. Despite some exaggerations, as is traditional in Ferrell's films, you can have fun with this saga in an alternate reality and, above all, with Ferrell's very particular style as a convinced scientist.
City of Angels
Nicolas Cage is an angel. Not necessarily in real life, of course. But in 'City of Angels', a romantic feature film and one of the biggest successes of the actor's career. In the plot, he plays the role of a divine creature who falls in love with a weakened doctor (Meg Ryan). Obviously, the relationship begins to go through bumps and bring trials to both characters. Cage and Ryan don't have the same chemistry as Cage and Laura Dern (from 'Wild Heart') or Ryan and Tom Hanks ('You've Got Mail'). Something is missing there. However, the commitment of the two actors in their roles and the delicate direction of Brad Silberling ('Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events') help to give layers to the film and make it memorable -- mainly due to the controversial ending.

Robot Dreams
Sometimes we get so carried away by the marketing power of studios like Disney Pixar, and we overlook other avenues for deep and powerful animated stories that don't need excessively complex plots to evoke emotions. Such is the case with Robot Dreams, a Hispanic-French production directed by Pablo Berger (2012’s Snow White), based on the eponymous graphic novel by Sara Varon. Set in New York during the 80s, the story follows Dog, whose solitary life leads him to buy a robot for companionship. Their friendship grows, but an unfortunate day at the beach forces them to separate and long for the day of their reunion. Virtually without dialogue, with vibrant animation and a captivating visual language, the film tells a simple yet profoundly moving story about (curiously) human relationships and the course they take despite (or because of) accidents, fortuitous circumstances, and uncontrollable events that happen throughout life.
