Why watch this film?

Although perhaps less remembered than other films in the Universal Classic Monsters canon, such as 'Dracula' or 'Frankenstein', 'The Mummy' was, at the time, a solid horror offering from Universal Pictures, even if it hasn't aged particularly well due to the cultural stereotypes portrayed on screen. However, the film does feature another iconic performance from actor Boris Karloff (best known for playing Frankenstein's monster), and even laid the groundwork for future versions, such as the 1999 one starring Brendan Fraser.
