Why watch this film?

What is it to be Brazilian? Even more so in Brazil, where we are all a great mix of cultures from other countries, it's even hard to trace what this nationality is. 'Guerra do Algodão' follows exactly in this sense. It is a film about female discovery, with this content of who we are. The female role is extremely well placed and in a very beautiful way, without it being necessary to use clichés about how strong these characters need to be, women already automatically carry a strength without much effort. The directors, Marilia Hughes and Cláudio Marques, explored Brazilianness in a way that we can understand what is so rich in our culture, even though it is often complicated to trace what is truly from Brazil and what has been imported.
