Why watch this film?
Unfortunately in Brazil, support for art is still quite unfavorable, which makes it impossible for sectors within this field to grow. Cinema and theater are good examples of this. It is a closed industry and commanded by usually conservative people. In ‘Ressaca’, we follow the story of a dancer who, due to the economic crisis at the Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, needs to find another source of income. Another, even bigger problem, is that the life of those who work with ballet is not like that of other professionals, usually requiring a certain age range in addition to physical preparation. Directors Patrizia Landi and Vincent Rimbaux were able to bring to the screen the story of what it is like to be an artist in Brazil and weave a critique of it.
