Do Not Split

Local protesters escalate demonstrations into conflict with highly armed police in Hong Kong.

Why watch this film?

A powerful and interesting film about the protests that shook Hong Kong between 2019 and 2020. Here, filmmaker Anders Hammer enters the midst of the conflict between protesters and police to better understand what was happening in the middle of the crowds -- from "war" strategies to unnecessary violence, to conflicts against China supporters. More than a good short film, 'Do Not Split' serves as a historical document to better understand the motivations of these young people and how the Chinese government reacted to the pressures. It's a shame that the new coronavirus pandemic interrupts the course of the protests, also abruptly interrupting the film. Finally, there is curiosity about a possible feature film by Hammer about the situation -- maybe, especially, after things return to normal. The short film is available for free on YouTube with English subtitles.
