Why watch this film?

In times when everything around us is frantic and without breaks, the documentary 'Max Richter's Sleep' almost comes as a balm. Here, director Natalie Johns shows details of the musical performance Sleep, created by maestro Max Richter. Quixotic in tone and absurdly long at eight hours in its original version, the performance plays with the audience's senses. Not surprisingly, there are beds scattered around the venue, inviting people to sleep while they listen and appreciate the music. It's almost as if Richter, and Johns through the documentary, were inviting the audience to really disconnect from the chaos outside. Of course, it can't be said that the entire Sleep experience can be found in the documentary, which only has 1h39 of duration. But, in some way, it's already possible to feel part of that emotion.
