Why watch this film?

A historically devastating yet little-known war in Brazil, the Kosovo War shook families, cities, loves, and stories of life. In the end, it broke structures and left its mark on this country in the Balkans Peninsula. In 'Zana', filmmaker Antoneta Kastrati draws from these war experiences and her own life story to make a film that navigates between the beautiful and the disturbing. Here, we follow the story of Lume, a woman who is pressured by her family to cure her infertility and become a mother again. However, along the way, she is haunted by her tragic past -- in an intelligent narrative that mixes real and fictional elements. A horror film that doesn't rely on cheap scares, 'Zana' is a powerful piece of reflection that puts its spotlight on the excellent actress Adriana Matoshi.
