Why watch this film?

May of 1968 was a defining month for France, and for social behavior around the world. After all, in the streets and squares of Paris, students and labor movements joined forces to show that society was no longer the same. There were demands, changes, notes. And it is precisely about this period that 'La bonne épouse' speaks, without ever actually showing a parade in Paris. After all, director Martin Provost ('Violette') focuses on the routine of a home economics school just before the fateful month. Without any external influence, the girls and those responsible for this school, brilliantly interpreted by Juliette Binoche, Yolande Moreau and Noémie Lvovsky, begin to undergo transformations. They exchange the dress for the pants, explore their sexualities, feel the freedom coming. It is an interesting exercise by Martin Provost, which shows that May 1968 began to occur naturally in France long before it was seen in the Parisian streets. Too bad there are too many stories, especially among the students, making the movie end strangely. But still, it's a good pick for those who like French comedies with a touch of political and social reflection.
