Why watch this film?
"A Day with Jerusa" is historic in itself. After all, the film directed by Viviane Ferreira is one of the rare fictions made by a black female director in the country. The feature was adapted from a short film by the same director, with the same premise, but here there was an opportunity for greater development. It tells the story of Silvia, a young market researcher who meets Jerusa, a 77-year-old lady. She shares her experiences and memories with Silvia, and the two share a feeling of ancestry. It is a film full of representation not only for its plot and cast, but also for its technical and creative part, which are almost entirely composed of black women, something extremely rare in the industry. It is an essential film for those looking for a deep, edifying story that demonstrates black culture in a unique way.
