Why watch this film?

In 2016, moviegoers were surprised when actor Stephen Lang ("Avatar") embodied the character of a blind and violent man in the intriguing thriller 'Don't Breathe'. Now, in the sequel, he returns to the role in a story that has almost nothing to do with what was told five years before - having only continuity the tone of the production and the essence of the character. With Rodo Sayagues taking over the direction instead of Fede Alvarez, the feature film now focuses on the story of the blind man living his life now alongside a daughter (Madelyn Grace). However, things change when criminals arrive at his property to kidnap the girl for obscure purposes - which will be revealed at the right time, to give that plot twist air. From there, Sayagues, who created the story and scripted the film alongside Alvarez since the first feature film, bets on what worked before: exaggerated violence, suspense arising from visual play with senses and a story that does not complicate, going straight to the point. Lang is again good as this visually impaired person with a supernatural strength, as well as the duo with Grace. There is only a bitter taste in the mouth for the frequent attempts of the script to try to erase the character's past, seen in the previous film, to make him a kind of antihero in redemption process. It would have been better to bank, from the beginning, the dichotomy that exists in this figure. But there is no doubt: if you liked the first movie, you will have fun in 'Don't Breathe 2'.
