Why watch this film?
In the 2020s, few figures are as controversial as Hungarian-American investor and philanthropist George Soros. After all, he has decided to use his wealth to combat authoritarian and fascist governments--including Viktor Orbán, Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, among others. This has made Soros unpopular with the right, who see in him an opportunity to create conspiracy theories. In Jesse Dylan's documentary 'Soros' (from 'Daddy Day Camp'), it is possible to better follow the routine and ideals of the Hungarian-American. It won't change anyone's opinion: those who hate him will continue with the same pre-formed ideas; those who like the work Soros does will continue to admire his initiative. Still, it is an interesting film that becomes, in some way, the historical record of an era.
