A successful pianist struggles with suicidal thoughts, while her writer sister tries to help.

Why watch this film?

Based on a best-selling novel around the world, 'All My Puny Sorrows' is a hard-hitting movie that leaves its mark. Directed by Michael McGowan ('Still Mine'), the feature film tells the story of two sisters. One has a stable life and an international successful career as a pianist (Sarah Gadon), while the other (Alison Pill) faces a creative block while raising her daughter alone and dating an uninspiring man (Michael Musi). In the middle of the two's journey, however, the pianist sister attempts suicide. From there, the filmmaker leads the viewer on an intense dramatic plot, with truly strong moments, to show the importance of mental health and psychological care. The absolute highlight is Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World'), who manages to present truly dramatic moments (such as an impactful scene in the parking lot) and others with a sharp comedic vein. A movie that is not for everyone, due to its sad and depressing tone, but which has its shine for bringing such important issues to the fore.
