Mixing 1980s slasher cinema with 'Gossip Girl', 'There's Someone Inside Your House' is one of those movies that can both entertain and scare in equal measure. After all, the Netflix exclusive feature tells the story of a group of school friends who are going through a tough time: a masked killer is murdering students and exposing their worst secrets. With a face of 'Happy Death Day', albeit without any narrative inventiveness, the film knows how to play with the audience's emotions and even surprise with a good final revelation. For those who like to get a few scares, see some moderate violence and still have fun with the atmosphere of a school, 'There's Someone Inside Your House' is the perfect choice -- with a special mention for director Patrick Brice ('Creep').

Plot summary
Makani Young has moved from Hawaii to quiet, small-town Nebraska to live with her grandmother and finish high school, but as the countdown to graduation begins, her classmates are stalked by a killer intent on exposing their darkest secrets to the entire town, terrorizing victims while wearing a life-like mask of their own face. "Corporate Animals" is a mix of comedy and horror that wants to show the everyday life of the corporate world. On one side, there are the bizarre characters typically found in an office - as well explored in the series "The Office" - which brings the humor. On the other side, there is the oppressive atmosphere and difficult dynamics, which brings the horror to this Patrick Brice (franchise "Creep") feature. With a star-studded cast featuring names like Demi Moore ("G.I. Jane"), Ed Helms ("The Hangover") and Jessica Williams ("2 Dope Queens"), the movie dives into a fantasy universe where the boss of a company takes her team to a haunted cave. However, beneath this Sam Bain (series "Babylon") script lies some interesting discussions about the job market and, of course, a series of oddly interpreted jokes by the director, a specialist in horror films. It's a strange production, sometimes not knowing which genre to aim for, but it should please those looking for experimentation in cinema.

Abigail demonstrates why we should keep an eye on the director duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, especially when they have original material at their disposal (they also directed Scream 5 and 6, with mixed results). Abigail is a film that manages to balance the terror and tragedy of its characters with the absurdity of its premise, thanks to a clever script that plays with the conventions of vampire literature, careful direction, and a phenomenal cast (led by Mexican actress Melissa Barrera and Dan Stevens) that fully utilizes their roles. The plot follows a group of kidnappers tasked with a delicate job: to kidnap a millionaire's daughter for ransom. However, it all turns out to be a trap: beneath the guise of a 12-year-old girl, the victim is actually an ancient vampire who likes to play with her food. Like Ready or Not in its time, this film is self-aware, pushing its story and violence to the most absurd and fun limits without falling into self-parody. It won’t change the history of horror cinema, but it’s an excellent (and even stylish for a film of its genre, I dare say) choice for a fun time at the movies with friends.
