Why watch this film?
Debut feature from filmmaker and publicist Anwar Safa, awarded at the Guadalajara and Guanajuato film festivals, and winner of an Ariel for its young star, Martín Castro. 'El Jeremías' is the story of a child who, despite the precariousness of his family, discovers that he is a genius, which triggers a series of situations that make him think about what he wants to be when he grows up, even though he is only eight years old. Even if the performances can be a bit uneven and the cinematographic language of the film is merely functional, it is a funny and family-friendly story told with a lot of heart, with a special emphasis on Castro's performance.

Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti (winner of the Palme d'Or in 2001 for The Son's Room) returns with what has been called his 8½, for obvious reasons. A Brighter Tomorrow is the story of a filmmaker struggling to shoot a movie about the Hungarian Revolution, while trying to save his marriage to his producer wife. The film satirizes the current state of cinema, and perhaps indulges a bit too much in its nostalgia. It is far from the best that veteran Moretti has to offer, but if you've enjoyed his previous films, you will undoubtedly enjoy this one.
