Why watch this film?

This exclusive National Geographic documentary from Disney+ is one of those productions that are deeply personal by nature and, therefore, emotionally engaging. 'Torn' tells several stories: that of mountaineer Alex Lowe, who tragically died in 1999 when he was caught in an avalanche; that of Conrad Anker, his best friend who miraculously survived, and who over the years fell in love with his widow and ended up raising her children with her; and that of Max Lowe, Alex's son, who films this documentary after his father's remains are finally discovered in 2016. The perspective of the latter frames the entire documentary, in a deep exploration of themes ranging from the nature of love and parenthood, to pain and loss. There are more emotions than mountaineering here, but that's definitely a positive in this case.
