Why watch this film?
Presented at the Berlin Film Festival and nominated for eight Goya Awards, "Anunciaron tormenta" is a documentary that begins with the story of Ësáasi Eweera, one of the last kings of the Bubi ethnic group of Equatorial Guinea, who was a threat to Spanish colonial rule, and who died in 1904 under mysterious circumstances. The documentary revisits the case more than a century later, mixing a detective structure with an interesting visual experimentation that, at the same time, denounces the crimes of Spanish colonialism, while questioning the fragility and fleetingness of collective memory.
