Why watch this film?

Remember 'Cheaper by the Dozen', the classic 2003 comedy starring Steve Martin; or even the original 1950 version, known in Brazil as 'Papai Batuta'? Well, the story returns in a Disney feature film, which bought the old studio in 2017. The new remake, made as an exclusive Disney+ movie, is an extensive reinterpretation of the original plot, now adapted to new terms. Martin and Bonnie Hunt leave, Zach Braff ('Oz: The Great and Powerful') and Gabrielle Union ('10 Things I Hate About You') enter, who lead an ethnically diverse family. The themes are also different, including (albeit lightly) ethnic prejudice and bullying, but the message about unity is still there - albeit with new contours by showing that a family is not made up of only blood ties. With a low budget, the result of the film may sound cheesy and naive - not to mention that, like the 2003 version, there are almost no situations to actually laugh at - but the inclusive message of love certainly translates into light entertainment to watch as a family.
