Why watch this film?
'Paris, 13th District' is essentially a movie about meetings and mismeetings, searching for identity and belonging in a black-and-white Paris that, despite the magic of the lights, loses its colors to show that there is life (and conflicts) beyond the Eiffel Tower. Directed by Jacques Audiard (from 'Rust and Bone' and the highly acclaimed 'Dheepan: The Refuge'), the feature film tells the story of four characters who cross paths in the spaces of this shining city. With loves and desires as a starting point and arrival, 'Paris, 13th District' has its problems, such as the fatigue that arises from the repetition of stories and signs, as well as the obvious photography - although it makes sense in the proposal. But it's okay, since the story turns around and impresses with so much humanity.

Winner of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Jury Grand Prix, 'The Prophet' mixes the French ethnic cauldron, including criticism of how immigrants are treated by government and politics, with a more action and violence-driven approach. A realistic and true view of what happens in Europe, leaving us claustrophobic within the prison where much of the story takes place.
Dheepan
A faithful and powerful portrait of the life of immigrants in Europe, fleeing from a cruel fate in their home countries and often forced to live a lie in their new home. A complicated life, seen through the passionate vision of Jacques Audiard, who wrote, produced and directed the film. A well-executed and well-acted drama which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

How to Date Billy Walsh
There's a reason why, despite being so repetitive, teen romantic comedies like Clueless work so well: we've all been there, somehow. The plot of How to Date Billy Walsh is set in Britain, but follows the same formula as many other similar proposals from the United States: a guy, Archie, has been friends with Amelia since childhood, but secretly loves her. However, when he finally gathers the courage to confess, she falls for Billie Walsh, a handsome and athletic exchange student. The story is predictable and, except for a Netflix Sex Education-like layer of paint, there's not much new. However, it's a good contender for a Gen Z classic.
The Taste of Things
From Vietnamese-French director Anh Hung Tran (The Scent of Green Papaya) and starring the legendary Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel, The Taste of Things was France's selection for the 2024 Oscars, although it was not nominated. Set in 1889 and based on the character of Dodin-Bouffant created by Marcel Rouff, the story follows a chef (Magimel) enchanted by his cook (Binoche), for whom he feels not only culinary admiration, but genuine love. However, she is not ready to take the step into marriage and is happy and content with the relationship they have. Sensual in its visuality and narrative, it is a powerful story of love and about love, which, while not entirely breaking free from conventions, is elevated by the formidable talent of its protagonists.
Me Before You
Young and quirky Louisa "Lou" Clark moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Will's cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living. As their bond deepens, their lives and hearts change in ways neither one could have imagined.
