Why watch this film?

A Mexican comedy that, thanks to its premise, manages to distance itself from the cliches of the genre in contemporary national cinematography. "Lessons for Rogues" is the story of Jenny (Danae Reynaud), a young woman who, after her mother's sudden death - who leaves her an inheritance - decides to go in search of the father who abandoned her when she was a child. What she finds is a small-time con artist known as Barry "the Dirty" (Joaquin Cosio, hilariously funny), along with his cunning girlfriend (Diana Bovio) who do petty thefts. As her bond with her father grows, Jenny must decide if she wants to belong to this new world or return to her own. There are very funny moments, and even with the limitations of the script, the cast does a good job. However, there are clear problems with pacing and an ending with an obvious lack of closure. Yes, there is freshness in the type of story it tells, and the performances make it enjoyable. But these stories need to be well told.
