Why watch this film?
"With interviews in Portuguese, Spanish and English, 'The Big Brother: The Day That Lasted 21 Years 2' continues what 'The Day That Lasted 21 Years' began, reflecting on external influences on Latin American dictatorships. While Camilo Tavares's first film mainly focuses on the 1964 coup in Brazil, this second chapter focuses on external influences - mainly from the United States - on the coup that deposed Salvador Allende in Chile and put dictator Augusto Pinochet in power. Full of details and documents, 'The Big Brother: The Day That Lasted 21 Years 2' dives headfirst into the topic and leaves no stone unturned in showing how this dark period of Latin America was orchestrated by foreign forces. To see, reflect and rethink part of History."

The Day That Lasted 21 Years
Between March 31 and April 1, 1964, Brazil was the scene of a military coup by the Armed Forces, who removed President João Goulart from power and instituted a military dictatorship that would last 21 years - and which persecuted, tortured, and killed its opponents. Much has already been told and studied about this period of Brazilian history, but Camilo Tavares' documentary brings new elements, including previously unpublished documents and audio recordings proving the involvement of the United States in the conspiracy. There are also backstages of political articulation within Brazil, since the establishment of the dictatorship had the support of various sectors of society. A story that must remain alive so that it never happens again.

La Bonga
La bonga is an emotional Colombian documentary, selected for film festivals like Guanajuato (Mexico), Costa Rica, and San Francisco. The documentary portrays the return of hundreds of people to the title town, now swallowed by the jungle, after they had to abandon it decades earlier due to threats of violence from paramilitary groups. It is a powerful cinematic exercise on collective memory to heal trauma, reconcile with the passage of time, and rebuild abandoned lives to move forward with courage.

Life Is Not a Competition, But I'm Winning
Life is not a Competition, but I'm Winning is a sports documentary that challenges one of the most debated—and controversial—issues in professional sports in recent years: the rigidity of gender-based competitive divisions—male and female—with the resultant exclusion of transgender athletes. With a visual style that goes beyond typical sports documentaries, this production challenges these classifications while celebrating the triumphs of transgender women who have been denied the opportunity to compete and represent their disciplines—and even their nations—on the podium.

Skywalkers: A Love Story
Skywalkers: A Love Story is a documentary presented at the Sundance Festival 2024 that, from its theme and subjects, might already seem controversial: it follows a couple dedicated to rooftopping, the activity of clandestinely scaling skyscrapers and other tall structures, and documenting it. The documentary explores their trajectories, motivations, and romantic relationship, as they prepare for the most risky—and important—climb of their lives. Filled with spectacular and even terrifying images, with editing that keeps the viewer engaged, Skywalkers will fascinate the curious, even if, as such, its reflections on love never reach the same heights.
