Actress, writer, screenwriter and director Lena Dunham, known for 'Girls', takes on the direction of 'Catherine Called Birdy' here. Set in medieval England, the movie revolves around the life of Catherine, a 14-year-old girl who challenges gender norms in the Middle Ages. With delicacy and lots of humor, Dunham does an excellent job alongside Bella Ramsey ('Game of Thrones' and 'The Last of Us'), who brings the protagonist to life. A very well-made comedy with an excellent message of empowerment.
