A girl finds a strange egg that hatches into something beyond belief, leading to a twisted spiral of terror.

Why watch this film?

If Guillermo del Toro (The Labyrinth of the Faun) and David Cronenberg (The Fly) had joined forces to direct a fable like Pixar's "Inside Out", the result would be a movie like "A Cria Sombria" (also known as "Hatching", its international title). The story is about Tinja, a girl under pressure from her mother to maintain the image of a perfect and successful family. One night, Tinja finds a strange egg that she decides to incubate, but what comes out of it is only the beginning of a sinuous spiral of terror. "A Cria Sombria" is a movie directed efficiently, perhaps not extraordinarily, which, through fantasy and terror, presents us with an interesting fable about growing up and exercising our autonomy. Our suggestions

12-year-old Tinja is desperate to please her mother, a woman obsessed with presenting the image of a perfect family. One night, Tinja finds a strange egg. She hides it, keeps it warm. When it hatches, what emerges is beyond belief.
