The Rescue
It was during the 2018 World Cup that news of a youth soccer team in Thailand made headlines. The reason? These children and teenagers, along with their coach, were trapped in a flooded cave. They had gone in to explore the area when suddenly a flash flood blocked their way out, leaving them stuck in an almost inaccessible place. From this desperate story, documentarians Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (of the Oscar-winning 'Free Solo') follow the efforts of those on the outside, mainly British divers, to get the kids out alive. Mixing stunning archival footage with recreations that blend seamlessly into the recordings, we follow this desperate challenge. Special mention to the great script, which follows a narrative line typical of fiction films - with a beginning, middle and end, as well as climax and anti-climax. Like 'Virunga' and even 'Free Solo', there are moments of true tension, although almost everyone knows how this real story ends.

Return to Space
Elon Musk is certainly one of the most controversial figures in the contemporary world. The richest man on the planet in 2022, with an estimated fortune of a trillion dollars, Musk is also engaged in the new modern "space war", vying for supremacy of the stars, against figures like Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson. 'Return to Space' follows the billionaire's adventure, focusing on how he revitalized space ambitions in the United States and, in some way, the rest of the world. The direction is by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, who won an Oscar for 'Free Solo', so there is quality in the production. That said, there is a personal perspective that seeks to inspire about technology and space, so the movie ends up feeling a bit like a big "infomercial", promoting Elon Musk and SpaceX. Thus, it is only recommended for fans of technology and space adventures.

Victim/Suspect
Selected for the 2023 Sundance Festival, this Netflix exclusive documentary follows journalist Rachel "Rae" de León as she travels across the United States investigating a disturbing pattern: women are sexually abused and report it to the police, but are then accused of making false reports, arrested, and even imprisoned for it. Although Victim/Suspect falls into the exploitative trap of other Netflix documentaries about real crimes, the information presented here is well worth seeing to understand how institutionalized misogyny operates to perpetuate its own system.

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don't Know Me
Anna Nicole Smith, featuring never before seen footage of the iconic Playboy and Guess jeans model, who blazed a trail through the 90s before her tragic death at the age of 39.
