No Hard Feelings

A woman hired to date an introverted 19-year-old discovers he's not what he seems.

Why watch this film?

In the style of 2000s sex comedies like American Pie and Super Cool, No Hard Feelings tells a funny story with sex and seduction at its center, both with some innovations as well as questionable elements. The story follows Maddie (Jennifer Lawrence), whose car is repossessed and who is about to lose her house, answering an intriguing ad on Craigslist: overprotective parents are looking for a woman to date their shy son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), to give him some self-esteem before he goes off to college. Things, naturally, go hilariously wrong, and both characters discover things about themselves. The script, though predictable, gives interesting social, economic, and generational contexts to its characters that are worth analyzing, even if there are other controversial topics. One thing we can agree on, though, is that Jennifer Lawrence is a brilliant comedic actress, and laughs are guaranteed with her. Read more in our full review of No Hard Feelings.
