After a major uproar at a wedding, they are forced to avoid a national incident by upplaying their nonexistent friendship with a goodwill visit to the UK – blossoming into friendship and even something deeper. A typical young adult production of the 2020s, the film has a straightforward plot where things happen without much explanation, focusing on bringing essential moments from the book to the screen, even if they sometimes don't make much sense in the film's narrative. Nonetheless, it is likely to please fans of the book with a faithful story and a cast committed to the plot.

Plot summary

Their rivalry soon turns into a forced friendship and then blossoms into something even more. The two try to keep their relationship a secret despite their highly public lives amid his mother's re-election campaign as the first female President.
