Why watch this film?

Maria Martins is an important Brazilian sculptor, draftsman, printmaker, painter and writer, with striking sculptures for world avant-garde art. With a tumultuous life, she was related to Marcel Duchamp and, according to some, Benito Mussolini (a subject not addressed by the film), in addition to being a friend of Pablo Picasso. Incredible, isn't it? Yes, but Mary's story is unknown to many Brazilians, who do not learn about her feats in the classroom. This documentary tries to put an end to this sad fate, presenting the legacy of the artist to a new generation - after all, as the title itself says, we can't forget that she came from the tropics.
