An exclusive Netflix documentary that explores the first - and so far, the only - time that demonic possession was argued as a defense in a trial in the United States (the same case that inspired the third installment of "The Conjuring" franchise). Following the same vein of the popular true crime genre on the platform, "The Devil on Trial" mostly offers very little, other than presenting the facts. However, it redeems itself somewhat in its final third, where it more severely critiques the culture of exorcisms. Among similar documentaries on Netflix, it might be of interest.
