The Blues Brothers

Two brothers on a mission from God to save their childhood orphanage by reuniting their blues band.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

A classic 1980s movie, directed by John Landis (‘The Blues Brothers’) and starring the great duo of John Belushi (from his huge success on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and sadly no longer with us) and Dan Aykroyd (‘Ghostbusters’) on a real journey through music and American culture - names like Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Ray Charles make appearances, as well as actors and filmmakers like Frank Oz (the evergreen Yoda), Carrie Fischer (the also eternal Princess Leia) and Steven Spielberg. It's a delicious mess that only the graduates from the great SNL era could produce. The script is predictable, some jokes may seem dated, but nothing erases ‘The Blues Brothers’ as a nostalgic record of a time in cinema and in the world.

Plot summary

After the release of Jake Blues from prison, he and brother Elwood go to visit the orphanage where they were raised by nuns. They learned that the church stopped its support and will sell the place unless the tax on the property is paid with 11 days. The brothers decide to raise the money by putting their blues band back together and staging a big gig. They may be on a "mission from God" but they're making enemies everywhere they go.
