State of Play
One of the most exciting political thrillers of the 2010s, 'State of Play' has all the formulas of the genre. As the name itself suggests, there are plenty of intrigues, constant pursuits and a script that is complex yet simpler than it seems. However, it's hard not to feel like getting up from the couch at some moments, especially due to the top-notch performance of a cast featuring names such as Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Helen Mirren, Viola Davis, Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright and Jason Bateman. An essential late night blockbuster for those who enjoy investigations, espionage and good action movies.

Life in a Day 2020
Sequel to the feature film released in 2011, 'Life in a Day 2020' seeks to bring snippets of everyday life and reality. To do this, director Kevin Macdonald assembles a mosaic of videos made by people on July 25th, 2020. People like you and me, ordinary people, showing what they did on that specific day. Thus, 'Life in a Day 2020' is both moving and exciting, becoming a window into the world in a year when the new coronavirus pandemic has taken hold of people's minds and hearts. The most interesting thing, however, lies in the complexity of themes that arise throughout the 90 minutes: there are marriage proposals, breakups, moments of mourning, joy, cute animals, people facing the pandemic and more. It's too beautiful. It's as if the universe gave us the chance to look a little bit at what life is out there.

The Mauritanian
'The Mauritanian' is an intense political thriller, based on a true story, about a prisoner convicted of a crime and thrown into the American prison of Guantanamo, considered one of the worst in the world, without the right to trial, evidence or even a concrete case against him. Two lawyers then decide to represent him and, little by little, unravel the truths behind his conviction, and the absurdities and atrocities committed by the American government in the name of a patriotic and nationalist feeling of finding a culprit, of putting a “name to the bulls” and having a scapegoat to blame for a terrifying crime. The movie is not about the convict being innocent, but about the right to defense and equal judgement before the law that everyone deserves, justice must be impartial and transparent so that there are no judgments based on hatred and personal retaliation.

Life Is Not a Competition, But I'm Winning
Life is not a Competition, but I'm Winning is a sports documentary that challenges one of the most debated—and controversial—issues in professional sports in recent years: the rigidity of gender-based competitive divisions—male and female—with the resultant exclusion of transgender athletes. With a visual style that goes beyond typical sports documentaries, this production challenges these classifications while celebrating the triumphs of transgender women who have been denied the opportunity to compete and represent their disciplines—and even their nations—on the podium.

Skywalkers: A Love Story
Skywalkers: A Love Story is a documentary presented at the Sundance Festival 2024 that, from its theme and subjects, might already seem controversial: it follows a couple dedicated to rooftopping, the activity of clandestinely scaling skyscrapers and other tall structures, and documenting it. The documentary explores their trajectories, motivations, and romantic relationship, as they prepare for the most risky—and important—climb of their lives. Filled with spectacular and even terrifying images, with editing that keeps the viewer engaged, Skywalkers will fascinate the curious, even if, as such, its reflections on love never reach the same heights.
