Writer Paco Ignacio Taibo II brings his trilogy of books 'Pátria' to the documentary format, showing us the events that took place in the 1850s and 1860s that helped define the modern concept of Mexico, as a nation, defining its people and its history. More than a historical account, the film helps us understand the origins of Mexican culture and politics - which, like it or not, have many similarities with Brazilian culture. A great way to dive into our Latin American identity.

Interesting documentary, 'Vilas: Serás lo que debas ser o no serás nada' fits perfectly into the "nationalist" genre. After all, in this plot, director Matias Gueilburt (of 'Antes de que nos olviden') follows the journey of an Argentine journalist who tries to prove that his compatriot, tennis player Guillermo Villas, had the position of No. 1 in the world unjustly denied in the 1970s. Without hiding his partisanship and how he avoids some of the issues raised, the feature film ends up being a dive into the career of this athlete and, mainly, by showing how sports organizations are also notably taken to support certain nations or teams. A denunciation movie, which only loses points for the lack of some questions. Sports fans, without a doubt, will be interested.
Bank Robbers: The Last Great Heist
Renowned documentary filmmaker Matías Gueilburt returns to the ring to tell one of the most fascinating true stories from Argentine tabloids. 'Los Ladrones: La verdadera historia del robo del siglo' explores, without value judgments, with exclusive testimonies and attractive visual reconstructions, the robbery that inspired series like 'La Casa de Papel' and many other fiction films. The director managed to establish contact with the quartet who carried out the robbery and here are the unpublished interviews where they tell firsthand how and why they decided to carry out the famous (and criminal) robbery.

It doesn't present reflections that aren't obvious to those who have read books or watched other films about the impact of social media, but it's a good starting point to learn about how misinformation works on the internet.
Girls State
Directing duo Amanda McBaine and Jesse Moss, known for the award-winning documentary Boys State, return now for Girls State. But it would be a mistake to say it's just a female version of the first documentary. Through a select group of girls participating in a federal government simulation in Missouri, this film reveals, firstly, how American politics operates. But secondly, and more importantly, it explores how an environment supposedly empowering girls can both propel and limit them at the same time, raising questions about what we understand about power and the ways to exercise it.
Earth Protectors
Documentaries about the climate crisis are never too many, but sometimes it can be challenging to find one that presents its arguments in a different and memorable way. Earth Protectors is a worthy attempt. Directed by French artist and environmental activist Anne de Carbuccia, it artistically documents her 10-year journey around the world exploring the impact of climate change in various countries, as well as the solutions undertaken to empower global citizens and address the crisis. At times, de Carbuccia and her works take more prominence than necessary, but she manages to present vital information.
