Separated families reunite for a bittersweet moment at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Why watch this film?

Director Everardo González belongs to a group of filmmakers who make it clear that documentary is the premier genre in Mexico. As he did with the raw 'La libertad del Diablo', this thirty-minute film, while short, packs a powerful punch and showcases that painful, broken Mexico again, this time offering a moving and completely emotional vision of the difficult reality experienced by thousands of families. It may not provide answers about the migration crisis between Mexico and its northern neighbor, but there is no truer truth than the pain and resignation on the faces of separated families. Above all, 'A Three-Minute Embrace' is a lesson in how film - and emotion - are capable of extending a brief moment we don't want to end.
