América is a story of brothers confronting the chasm between adolescent yearning and adult realities when brought together to care for their ailing ninety-three year old grandmother.

"Starting from an intimate family portrait filmed over three years, directors Erick Stoll and Chase Whiteside present in a beautiful and poignant feature-length documentary in which three grandchildren have to take care of their grandmother América, who is losing her memory. Between games, cuddles, and arguing between their grandchildren, the documentary raises very serious questions about the quality of life in old age, particularly in the Mexican context: families that must join forces to take care of their elders, and the possibility (or impossibility) for them to decide on their destinies. It may sound serious, but 'América' is an incredibly tender and moving story about family love, in its sincerest and purest form. A movie that is definitely worth watching."
