Why watch this film?

Singaporean filmmaker Pearry Reginald Teo has built his career on reinterpretations and interpretations of great stories, such as vampires ('Dracula: The Dark Prince') and even fairy tales ('The Curse of the Sleeping Beauty'). Now, in 'The Assent', Reginald Teo seeks to delve deeper and bring a new look at demonic possession. In this case, a family facing supernatural disturbances at home and then having to deal with the possession of one of their children. Obviously, it's not as good as 'The Exorcist', 'The Conjuring 2' or 'Insidious'. However, Reginald Teo manages to evoke some of the main elements of this type of narrative to scare, while at the same time telling a good story. There are serious problems in the conduct of the plot, as well as actors who do not perform well on stage. But, overall, it pleases and scares.
