Why watch this film?

Inspired by H.G. Wells' work, 'The Invisible Man' has always been one of the known properties as "Universal's Monsters" - with the studio's first adaptation hitting cinemas in 1933. Almost 80 years later, producer Jason Blum and his Blumhouse (of successes such as the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise and 'Get Out') were called upon to reinterpret the character for new audiences. The result is a horror movie with plenty of social subtext, functioning as a metaphor for psychological abuse, domestic violence and toxic relationships. It's a terror that terrifies us even more, precisely because, deep down, it's not so fictional after all. For all this, nobody better than Elisabeth Moss ('The Handmaid's Tale') for the lead role, as her incredible performance plunges us into the mental state of a woman in perpetual alert as a result of years of abuse.
