Grease

Two high school lovers reunite, but can they overcome their differences?

Trailer

Why watch this film?

Based on the musical stage show of the same name, 'Grease' is one of the most popular movie musicals of the seventies, full of catchy and frantic choreography, a nostalgic homage to classic mid-20th century rock and roll, 'greasers', hot rod cars, and leather jackets. The movie ended up solidifying John Travolta's status as a movie musical star after 'Saturday Night Fever', and rocketed Olivia Newton-John's career as a singer. Several of the songs from the movie have achieved iconic status, such as 'You're the One that I Want' (one of the best-selling singles of all time), 'Summer Nights', and 'Hopelessly Devoted to You', which earned the movie its only Oscar nomination. Even if some of the situations depicted in it may be problematic for 21st century audiences, 'Grease' is an essential classic for fans of musicals (and for those who prefer the romantic vision of the fifties and sixties).
