Freaks

Locked inside by her father, a 7-year-old girl discovers the truth about the outside world.

Why watch this film?

Remembering from afar the movie 'Cloverfield Lane 10', the independent horror 'Freaks' has a disturbing premise: a disturbed father (Emile Hirsch) locks his 7-year-old daughter in a house, warning her of serious external dangers. However, the mysterious Mr. Snowcone (Bruce Dern, increasingly impressive on screen) tries to convince the girl to escape and join him on a mysterious journey. Thus, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (both from the live-action Kim Possible movie) play with notions of truth and lies, fear and courage, known and unknown. It's almost like Plato's Cave Myth dressed up with horror and science fiction. However, it is good to warn: the script has a somewhat convoluted narrative and the directors embrace a more leisurely style. Those who want a movie in this style with running and adrenaline, unfortunately, will be disappointed. It is a production to be felt and savored little by little.
