The debut of actor Caco Ciocler as a director, 'Partida' is a film that dialogues with Brazilian politics in a timeless and critical way. After all, in a mix of documentary and fiction, the feature tells the story of Georgette Fadel, who decides to run for the 2022 elections after the results of the 2018 presidential race. From there, the director follows the protagonist-interviewee on a trip to Uruguay, where she can connect with the roots of South American politics and, in passing, spend New Year's Eve with former Uruguayan President Pepe Mujica. Rich in its social construction and unexpected political scope, 'Partida' plays with the acrimony of recent years in Brazil and how different ideologies can clash. In short, it is a movie that serves two audiences. On the one hand, those who like to talk, think and be political, with all the nuances that exist in Brazil. On the other, for those who prefer to leave politics aside, 'Partida' can be a good hint to think a little more about democracy. After all, contrary to what the saying says, politics is something to be discussed.

But secondly, and more importantly, it explores how an environment supposedly empowering girls can both propel and limit them at the same time, raising questions about what we understand about power and the ways to exercise it.

Earth Protectors is a worthy attempt. Directed by French artist and environmental activist Anne de Carbuccia, it artistically documents her 10-year journey around the world exploring the impact of climate change in various countries, as well as the solutions undertaken to empower global citizens and address the crisis. At times, de Carbuccia and her works take more prominence than necessary, but she manages to present vital information.
