Vivarium

A couple trapped in a labyrinth-like neighborhood of identical houses.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

One of the strangest and most disturbing films of 2020, the feature film 'Vivarium' is one of those stories that can even keep you up at night. After all, the madness of the plot starts with the premise: a young couple (Imogen Poots and Jesse Eisenberg) agree to visit a house for sale. The realtor is strange, the atmosphere even more so. But things get really disturbing when the realtor disappears and leaves the couple abandoned, unable to leave the village they are in. There is no one, there are no exits. It's chaos. From there, director Lorcan Finnegan (from the horror 'Without Name') plays with the finitude of life in a plot full of highs and lows, but that leaves you uncomfortable with the way it is conducted -- the little boy speaking with an adult voice is a complete nightmare. Without a doubt, you have to be prepared to embark on the madness of the script and accept some controversial creative decisions from Finnegan.
