Why watch this film?

Sometimes we just want to hit the "play" button and embark on a fun journey that doesn't require too much from our (tired) neurons. Netflix's 'Day Shift' is exactly that. In the movie, Jamie Foxx ('Spider-Man: Far From Home') is Bud, a father who is threatened by the possibility of his ex-wife moving to the other side of the country, taking their daughter with her. To prevent this, he needs to make more money in his job - which turns out to be, believe it or not, hunting and killing vampires. But he also has to deal with a new partner on the streets - played by Dave Franco ('The Artist'). The result is a production that mixes paternal elements with the plot of buddy cop comedies (like 'Lethal Weapon') and the blood of gore, a subgenre of horror. Unfortunately, the entertainment gets lost in a confusing script, with many holes and that does not follow its own rules that it proposes for this fictional universe - besides the presence of a villain (played by Karla Souza, from 'How to Get Away with Murder') that does not mesh. Now, if you just ignore all that, you'll find a mental "screen rest", which gains some body in Franco's performance and, mainly, in the presence of Snoop Dogg. It's amazing: the rapper doesn't even have to open his mouth to get some smiles from the audience. Click here to read the full review.
