The first movie in the A Quiet Place saga establishes all the rules of this world: Earth has been invaded by aliens, whose ultrasonic hearing allows them to detect prey with the slightest sound. Small groups of survivors have adapted to a silent life, and it is in this context that we follow a family trying to stay together and safe. Directed by John Krasinski and starring him and his wife, the great Emily Blunt, it is a film that keeps us on the edge of our seats, holding our breath every second.
The second installment of the saga, A Quiet Place Part II, picks up the story where the original left off, with the family forced to move to another shelter and survive in the open, entering the devastated world and meeting new survivors. Although less interesting for repeating its predecessor's story, it remains a tense and exciting film, also benefiting from appearances by great actors like Djimon Hounsou and Cillian Murphy.
The third film in the A Quiet Place saga is actually a prequel. And with that, it achieves a more interesting approach to the story. As the title suggests, A Quiet Place: Day One is set at the beginning of the devastating alien invasion, with the chaos leading to more intense, action-oriented scenes. The film follows new characters played by Lupita Nyong'o (Black Panther) and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), although it maintains connections with the other films through Djimon Hounsou.
