This origin story of Wolverine is, chronologically, the first movie in Fox's X-Men saga. As fans will remember, it is also the first—and controversial—appearance of Deadpool in the cinema, played by Ryan Reynolds. However, this atrocious adaptation of the character was not well received. Not everything was bad, though, as this eventually led to his solo movies.
The movie that started it all not only for the X-Men in cinema but also for the current era of superhero movies. The first cinematic adaptation of the mutant team was also what catapulted Hugh Jackman into a global star, thanks to his portrayal of Wolverine.
For many, the highlight of the original X-Men trilogy is the second installment, which sees the characters facing more complex ideological conflicts. Wolverine is already an integral part of the team and has his own subplot in which he seeks clues to a past he can't remember.
The first attempt to adapt the Dark Phoenix saga to the cinema had mixed results, so X-Men: The Last Stand is considered the weakest link in the original trilogy. However, Wolverine has a fundamental role in this story, as his love for Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) is what decides the fate of the world.
The second part of the Wolverine trilogy is actually set years after The Last Stand. Mourning the death of Jean Grey and deprived of his regenerative power, Logan travels to Japan, where he reunites with old acquaintances and must fight against the Japanese mafia.
