Bong Joon-ho’s upcoming sci-fi epic (Parasite) stars Robert Pattinson in the lead role. Based on Edward Ashton’s novel, the film follows an expendable clone sent on dangerous missions, pushing Pattinson into yet another complex, ambitious project.
Once again, Pattinson isn’t the lead—that role belongs to Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming). But his raw, disturbing performance as a sinister preacher who deeply affects the protagonist’s life is unforgettable. Even if his Southern accent falters at times, Pattinson’s commitment proves how far he has come since Twilight.
Pattinson isn’t the lead in The Lost City of Z, but his presence almost outshines Charlie Hunnam, who plays explorer Percy Fawcett. Pattinson portrays Henry Costin, Fawcett’s loyal companion and an expert in the mysterious Amazon region that so fascinates him.
Sharing the screen with Willem Dafoe in this descent into madness is no easy feat. That’s why The Lighthouse is one of Pattinson’s finest roles. Playing a young lighthouse keeper tormented by isolation, hallucinations, and perhaps divine punishment, Pattinson dives headfirst into the film’s chaos.
Working with legendary director Claire Denis marked a turning point for Pattinson, showing his attraction to morally complex characters. In High Life, he plays a convict sent on a sinister space mission toward a black hole, where strange experiments involving the human body, sex, and reproduction take place.
