Seven thieves, seven hours, a robbery, hundreds of hostages and a mystery. The documentary tells the story of a legendary bank robbery at the Banestado bank on the day of 10th of December of 1987 in Londrina, South of Brazil.
"Rodrigo Grota has become one of the most interesting voices in independent cinema from São Paulo. In 'Leste Oeste', for example, the director impressed with the journey of a retired race car driver who returns to active duty for one last competition. Now, in 'Isto (não) é um assalto!', Grota focuses on one of the strangest and most illustrious crimes in Brazilian history: the robbery of the central agency of the largest bank in Londrina, keeping more than 300 people hostage for 7 hours. And, contrary to what was expected, the more than 5,000 people outside the agency stood alongside the criminals and began to shout slogans against the then government of José Sarney. Thus, in this documentary, Grota presents the robbery from the point of view of the robbers, the hostages, the police, the press and the population, creating this diverse mosaic of views on what happened."
