"One of the most beloved and celebrated children's films of all time, 'Matilda' is that typical Afternoon Movie that everyone loves to watch and rewatch. Although it was a box office flop at the time, this written, directed, narrated, and co-starring Danny DeVito ('Batman Returns') adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's novel has become a cult classic, with a special place in the hearts of generations. 'Matilda' has a peculiar vision of childhood and its joys, inexhaustible as long as there is compassion and optimism that clearly its adult characters no longer remember.
