It is a comedy about a teenager who dreams of becoming an astronaut. However, although gifted in physics, she is morbidly obese and shattered by life. Her life changes when she makes some new friends who ready to leave with her for outer space.
"This is the first feature film from French director Marie-Sophie Chambon, who also co-wrote the screenplay with screenwriter Anaïs Carpita. '100 kilos d'étoiles' is a teen comedy that manages to escape the clichés of this genre. The film talks about acceptance by showing about eating disorders, physical disability and psychological problems. The story follows four girls who join together due to the adversities of life. '100 kilos d'étoiles' is very sensitive when it comes to addressing the pressure that many girls suffer in such a crucial phase - childhood and adolescence - and how aversion to one's own body can become something extremely serious."
